Testimonials - Staff

Willis,

I just want you to know that your contact and identification of me as a member of Wildwood helped me gain a resident green fee and savings of $65.00.
The local Pro immediately recognized your request and made me feel very comfortable. It is also a beautiful place to play (North Sound Club - Cayman Islands).

Gentlemen,

I wanted to spend a few minutes telling you about my experience with the
Eric Bryant Memorial Golf Tournament that we held at Wildwood Green Golf
Club just yesterday.

My Wildwood contact throughout the planning of the event was Jeff
Engelhaupt.  He was always accessible, always patient, always friendly and
always delivered what he said he would.

We held the tournament to honor my nephew, Eric Bryant, 25 who killed
himself on campus at UNC in April of this year. This tournament was being
held to raise funds for Active Minds which is a newly-formed non-profit
chapter at UNC.  The program promotes awareness about issues such as mental
health, depression, and suicide.  With the funding that we raised, Active
Minds will be able to hold several on-campus events that will allow students
to understand mental health issues better, recognized warning and risk signs
of suicide, and no where to go locally for resources.

I started planning for this tournament less than a month from the time that
Eric killed himself and needless to say, this was a very emotional and
sensitive time for me and other family members.  Jeff was always respectful
and made it clear from the outset that his main goal was to help us put on a
successful tournament.

I realize that most of what I am telling you about how great it was to work
with Jeff is simply what is required/expected of him in the job that he has.
In today's world, it seems to me (I must be getting old) that I most
commonly find that people really do not know how to be kind and treat their
customer with timely service and in a professional manner.   In other words,
Jeff's consistently positive demeanor and supportive role stood out to me in
particular, but to other family members as well.

I wish there was something that I could do for him personally and I will
keep thinking of a way to help him know how much his support meant to our
family.  More than what I can do though, I wanted both of you to know just
how valuable a member of your staff was to me for the past several months.

If you happen to know Jeff's favorite restaurant or favorite store to shop
in, please share that with me.  Likewise, I hope you will find the time to
thank him for his efforts as a Wildwood employee and I encourage you to find
a way to reward him even if it's simply with a pat on the back.

Thanks for your time.

Barry Bryant

John, you may not know it but you saved my life today! Thanks for the help
on the range.  Golf is a big part of my life and when I cannot get it going,
life feels like a big frustration!

Willis, you need to know what happened today..I think it will provide a
chuckle but it should also bring you and your team a great deal of pride.

My dad, wife and kids bought me some new wedges for my birthday earlier this
month.  My irons have been measured for lie angle and are bent upright a
degree or two so I took the new wedges in to have them bent.  I could not
make a swing good enough to hit the impact board or hit the ball solidly!
Needless to say it was embarrassing for me and the guy at the shop.  I have
been fighting the shanks and hooking the ball this year since the start of
the season and the worst of my swings were coming out as I tried to hit the
impact board.

I headed to Wildwood Green in desperation and met Erica at the desk.  I
explained to her what was going on and that I needed someone to look at my
swing and help me figure this out...I had had enough of the shanks!  (Please
keep in mind I have read what Harvey Penick had to say in his Little Red
Book, Golf Digest articles and watched the Golf Channel for clues to fix my
swing and although it was improving it was still not the swing that I had
going last year and at times not one I can play with.)  Erica listened
closely, offered assistance and ultimately she and John figured out how to
take care of me on the practice tee right away.  I ate a quick lunch (great
sandwich, too by the way) spoke very briefly with John about the problem and
took a few balls to the range.  Promptly at 2:00 (imagine the temperature
out there) John started a 10 minute life saving lesson..and my shanks are
gone as long as I keep his words in my mind.."Work the hands inside the
ball."

Guys, John did a great deal in those 10 minutes as an instructor.  He sized
the problem up, gave me a few set-up cues to start with and a swing thought
that works and I am sure will keep working for me.  He gave me confidence
that the rest of my swing is good enough and he has me back on a path of
confidence that I know will allow me to enjoy the game again.  John, you
took me from panic to calm and collected over the ball again.

I cannot really thank you guys enough but I will tell you that Wildwood
Green has a great team of folks that work hard to make the most of the golf
experience for its membership.  I really enjoy seeing the entire team and
look forward to seeing you whenever I'm there.  Thanks Again!

Sincerely,

Karl Cooper

Good Afternoon,

Just wanted to let you guys know that I could tell a big change in the staff, the course and everything in general.

I golfed twice over Memorial day weekend and both days the play was right on pace, and the staff was very friendly, and the course was in the best shape I have ever seen.

These are just a few thing that I noticed over the last few weeks that are great changes.

Staff very attentive and friendly.  ( I have never had any problem with this)
Matching shirts very professional
Club house looks cleaner and more organized.
Better customer service at snack bar.
Better customer service at check in desk.
Course in excellent condition.
More attention to the actual course  (rough fairway definition, sand bunkers upgraded etc.)
Oh yea the fact that there is a female on the staff is nice.

As a paying member nothing makes me more happy than to tell that some of the money I am paying each month is being put back into the course.

I was most impressed when we played on Memorial Day and we had 20 golfers and when we finished the lady at the snack bar rolled out a cooler full of beer.   Now that is service.  She asked us if we wanted some fry etc while we where waiting and she brought everything out to the table. again nice service
I also noticed that the beverage cart was out and running all weekend.

Again just wanted to say as a member I like all of the changes !!!

I was not going to do the member guest because I thought it was a little expense for what we got last year , but with all of the changes I am looking forward  and proud to bring a friend from out of town to come play at the course.

Good Job

Thanks,

Scott G. Newman

John,

I just completed my first lesson with Jeff, the lesson was very good, Jeff
payed very close attention to my swing and gave great advice for me to
improve my game and took the time to explain the changes to me.

Thanks

Joe Kolb

Dear Willis & WWG staff and personel:

You have made a tremendous difference over this last year, breathing
fresh air into an operation that had exhausted itself by doing very little.
Every member is indebted to everyone of you for taking the helm and moving WWG
forward, making it a much more enjoyable/sociable place to play golf. Thanks!

All good wishes - Tom Regan

Willis,

Thank you for the Annual Report and sharing in detail the
improvements and aspirations for Wildwood Green Golf Club as we go into
2010.  I am very pleased to be a member of this club and want to thank you
personally for your leadership and communication as well as the great
attention I receive from all of Staff at Wildwood.  I look forward to the
warmer weather and golf ahead in 2010.

All the Best,

Leslie Boyd

Hello Willis,

I hope you are doing well.  I just wanted to send you an e-mail to let you know from a customer's perspective that you have a top-notch staff.  Everyone on the WWG team is always so courteous and helpful but I want to take a minute and thank two individuals who have provided me with outstanding customer service.   A few months ago John Budwine went out of his way to order a monogrammed/logo bag for me.  I am proud to carry the WWG bag especially when I play in tournaments at other clubs and I have received numerous compliments on the bag.   Give a big "thank you" to John for me again.   But this is only half of the story.  Having a good looking bag to carry clubs that are not quite getting the job done is not optimal.  This is where Kelly Malott comes in.   Kelly has really helped me improve my ball striking.  I was having some problems with my irons about a month ago.  I was on the range and my long irons kept hooking...nothing I tried straighten the shots.  After pounding away for about 30 minutes, I called into the clubhouse and Kelly answered the phone and listened to my problem.  He asked me bring a couple of irons in so that he could check out my setup.  He identified that the lie of the clubs were one degree off (even though I had the clubs fitted by  "Company Name Omitted " when I bought them).  He took the time to thoroughly explain the physics behind the problem that I was experiencing.  I'm glad I took Kelly's advice.  I made the decision to have the clubs bent down one more degree and I'm striking the ball much better now.  I really appreciate the knowledge and individual customer attention shown by both John and Kelly,  Thanks again,

Dave Strickland

Dear Willis,

This letter is long overdue.  You and the staff of Wildwood Green are to be complimented on the fine facility you run.  The course is in great shape, the staff is friendly and helpfull and I have enjoyed my membership.

I particularly want to compliment Erica Gonzalez.  As you may be aware both my grandson and I are taking lessons from her and she has been terrific.  She is patient, knowledgeable and a damn good instructor.  She is truely an asset to Wildwood.  Keep hiring staff like her and Wildwood will continue to flourish.

Sincerely,
Doug Wipperman

Good morning Willis.  I would think that this is the type of Email any
manager would want to receive.

This is about Erica.  I have been a student of hers this past summer and the
results she produced were tremendous.  I am hitting the ball further and
with more accuracy.  My hole in one is only the tip of the Iceberg.  In
September I came from behind to beat two other low handicap players in the
EMC Golf  League to win the League Championship.  My new swing, I refer to
it as the "Gonzalez Technique" has been a real "game winner" for me.  I will
continue to promote the teaching efforts of the Club and Erica.

You should be extremely proud of this woman and her contributions to
Wildwood Green Golf Course.  I would consider her to be your TOP INSTRUCTOR!

Respectfully Yours in good standings,

Jeffrey Wehner

Willis,

After shooting a personal best of 87 today, I wanted to write you and
sing the praises of all your staff, and especially John and Erica from a
teaching standpoint.  I had a morning session with John about 6 weeks ago
that really helped straighten out my drive and start to work on my irons.
John was great about focusing on making adjustments to my current game
without changing every aspect of my swing - it was a great experience and
John, of course, is fun to work with.

About 2 weeks ago, I took a lesson from Erica , who really focused on
adjusting my posture and swing with my irons.  Her advice to "square my
shoulders",  "relax my arms" and "hold my finish" really allowed me to
leverage my swing and gain accuracy and distance.  Erica's teaching style is
clear, encouraging and produces results.

In addition, Curt took a moment to encourage me to play "smart golf" and
stop over-using my driver.  His candid advice caused me to rethink my tee
shot club selection and I believe contributed to my lower score.

There is great insight available from many who love and play the game of
golf.

My husband Glenn and I joined Wildwood this past spring and have enjoyed
our membership immensely.  The customer service of the staff, the
camaraderie with the other players and the consistently improving course
conditions have all contributed to a great experience.

Now, if I can just break 80.....

Kind regards,

Diane
